February 28 Cuzzy likes movie reviewsThe Island the plot: Lincoln Six-Echo (McGregor) is a resident of a seemingly utopian but contained facility in the mid 21st century. Like all of the inhabitants of this carefully controlled environment, Lincoln hopes to be chosen to go to the "The Island" - reportedly the last uncontaminated spot on the planet. But Lincoln soon discovers that everything about his existence is a lie. He and all of the other inhabitants of the facility are actually human clones. Lincoln makes a daring escape with a beautiful fellow resident named Jordan Two-Delta (Johansson). Relentlessly pursued by the forces of the sinister institute that once housed them, Lincoln and Jordan engage in a race for their lives to literally meet their makers. ![]() My review: I can say without a doubt it was the movie with the most stuff blowing up and getting destroyed that I can remember seeing in a long time. Michael Bay may be the best at this and every summer he out does himself. Ewen and Scarlett do an ok job not that great acting is needed. They just need to look pretty and have some chemisty and they do that. Scarlett may just be my new favourite blonde even though I am generally not a fan. I can see a lot of this movie actually playing out in the future. Not the story line but the cloning and all the tech stuff. Swiping and having all kinds of personal info on file is already happening so its not that far a stretch. Overall the movie was a good popcorn flick, nothing great but it fills a cold afternoon that is for sure. If you do not mind all the product placement and over the top damage and explosions you should enjoy this one. ![]() Colangelo joining Raptors as GMThe Globe and Mail reports Bryan Colangelo will be leaving the Phoenix Suns and will assume the role of president and general manager of the Toronto Raptors.
lets hope Colangelo can fix the Raps Oscar Picks threadHere are a list of the main Oscar categories for this year and I would like to hear your answers. No you do not have to pick from the movies that are nominated, I want to hear what you think should win based on the movies you have seen this year. Copy and paste the questions below and open a comment window and leave your picks for everyone to see.

DAy 2 started pretty early since I was working all night. I finished at 9am and got a ride home so that worked out well. When I got home everyone was up in the kitchen having coffee and a snack. It is weird seeing a full kitchen! I fed Bosco and we hung out and chatted. Then Jamie and Casey made some breakfast for all of us, it was tasty of course.
Then we all (minus Katie) got bundled up and went for a dog walk. It was very very very cold. It must of been -30 with the wind chill. Of course Bosco had fun running around the Commons while we all saw our lives pass in front of us.
We walked home and Katie was all showered and ready to start the day. We then all got in the car and went out to do some shopping. We took advantage of having a car and went out to Bayers Lake to hit the big stores. We went to Home Sense where Jamie bought us a new frying pan, this thing is great and huge. There will be some good cooking coming out of this. We were looking for bedding but did not really find anything and the patience grew thin so we moved on to the grocery store. We picked up a few things including a plant (we have 3 now) so that was nice. From here we went back home to chill.
Snacks were made and the brewtender was fired up! We sat around watching some tv and snacking. More importantly we were inside where it was somewhat warm. We started playing some xbox golf and got Jamie hooked on it. I will post something on that later.
After the food and beer settled in we all felt the need for a nap. So for a few hours we all had a small nap. I really needed it since I had not slept yet since getting home from work.
Once we were all up again we hung out and watched some college ball and talked some more about whatever came up.
We were going out for dinner so we all got ready and dressed up nice for this place called Bish. Katie had been before and spoke highly of it. It is a nice restaurent down on the water. We left around 7pm and headed down for a nice meal. The place was very nice and fancy and we had a great meal. I think we all left very full and happy. I had a rack of lamb and some brie dish for a starter. After dessert and coffee and a lot of interesting and fun talk, we headed home around 10pm.
We were all pretty beat and somehow managed to stay up late enough to watch the dunk contest but then we all crashed from being tired and full of food and wine.
Day 3:
We all were up pretty early and Katie was up before me for maybe the first time on a weekend ever. What a trooper!
Jamie and Katie played some golf, Casey went to church and I took Bosco for a walk. We were all ready for some breakfast after this so Jamie and Casey once again cooked up a great meal. We moved slowly through the day and played some more golf.
Katie and her parents went off to the Art Gallery and I stayed home and relaxed. They had a good time and saw a lot of great art and brought us home a nice calendar for the kitchen.
Once they got home a plate of cheese, crackers meats were whipped up and some beer was had. We watched some basketball and hung out. The flight back to Toronto was later in the evening so we just hung out for the rest of the day. We played a lot of golf and had a good time.
Bosco had a blast with new people in the house and he was very well behaved.
After some group pictures were taken it was time to pack up and get Jamie and Casey on their way. They left around 630 pm. It was such a nice visit and it was too bad it went by so fast. I know they will be back in the summer tho so that will be nice when we can do more things in the better weather.
Katie and I just sort of vegged and cleaned up the rest of the night.
all in all a great weekend and I am pretty happy I have today off just to get ready for a long work week ahead.
thats all for now.........Jamie may even start a blog soon so stay tuned for that.
February 19 Little man NateHi everyone it is Sunday and it is so cold I cant even blog haha. I will recap the rest of the "Rock" Festival later on but here is a recap of the sports highlights of yesterday.
Canada had 49 shots on net but were shut out by the Swiss!! Can you believe it, those knife makers beat us!! I hope this is only a blip in the sched for Canada and they bounce back.
Last night in the dunk contest, little Nate Robinson jumped over a guy to get a perfect score and went on to with the title. It was amazing. I think AI should of won but whatever, the jump over Spud Webb was ridiculous.
Not much else is going on at the moment, I am just taking care of some stuff while Katie and her parents are out. Can I go back to the weather, the last 2 days the wind chill has been in the -20's and it is the worst it has been since I have been here. The dog walks have been cold cold cold.
I read it is supposed to warm up this week so that is some welcome news.
Ok I am burning some dvds and catching up on some tv shows I missed during the week, a perfect Sunday afternoon kind of thing. The NBA all star game is on tonight to so that will be fun.
Come back for the full wrap up of the Rock's visit later, with pictures as well.
take care February 18 "Rock Festival" day 1so Jamie and Casey arrived on the east coast
yesterday and they are most likely just getting up right now.
After a delay at the airport to find another pilot
and to top up the gas, they made it safe and sound.
I slept all day and they took Katie out to do some
shopping. Some fancy grocery and a plant for the house.
After I was up and they came back they got the full
tour of the house and just love it.
Bosco was hyper of course. So we just hung out and
caught up, it was nice. Later on Katie and her dad went over to Fries and Co.
and picked up a dinner for 4. It was some good pre-work eating. We were suprised
with some nice gifts and all was well on Kline.
Then I got a ride to work, we all piled in the
large rental car and we were off. It was a much quicker trip to work than I
thought so to fill the time we went to the drive through Star Bucks. This
excited everyone and the coffee voice from the insides of Starbucks freaked
Jamie out a little.
Hot chocolates all around and then it was to work
for me. Everyone peaked in the window and saw my set up. That was where I left
the fest.
Who knows what the Rock trio got up to the rest of
the night, I will find out soon and report it as soon as I can!!
anyways it is time to head out from this place
called work. Talk to you all later.
Go Canada go.
February 17 Friday stuff
Im out of stuff to say
have a nice day February 15 Catching upHi everyone how is your Wednesday going so far? It has been a few days since I have been able to post much, work was pretty busy but now I have some time.
So what has been going on? Hmmm let me think, haha not a whole lot. At work we are changing up a few things with the site meaning more to do for me, more responsibility and more creative aspects. We finally have a standard guide to follow which will help out a lot too. Yesterday I did a lot of the work that I have not done so far and seemed to do a good job so that felt ok.
Canada is playing as I type and they seem to be taking care of Italy. I am sure they need a few games to get comfortable with each other before the big teams come calling.
The Raptors have been playing some good ball, I mean I expected them to kick Portland around the ACC but the win in Minny the other night was impressive, more so when you consider KG shut down Bosh.
I will update the golf board in a sec and you will see Katie has added 2. This is kind of true but I will just say I got one of those using her character while she talked on the phone the other night. Oh well I did get my second double-eagle last night which I think is a much harder shot to get than an ace.
We are gearing up for Katie's parents coming this weekend, I know they are pretty excited too. It will be nice to have some guests on Kline.
The snow keeps coming in spurts on a daily basis but its not like it is down New York way that is for sure.
I have a few things to do today before having a nap and starting my night shifts. So I am going to go and start that but I may post later too. Have a good day and I have to say I dont know if it is the season or what but the hits have slowed to a crawl. Lets pick it up haha.
February 13 Bosco told me to pass this onMonday and Tuesday, February 13-14, 2006 Madison Square Garden Pennsylvania Plaza Seventh to Eighth Avenues and 31st to 33rd Streets New York, New York America's First and Only Champions Only Dog Show Entry limited to 2,500 dogs Individual breed judging will take place each day between the hours of 8:30AM and 6PM. Had a bad day at work??When you have an "I Hate My Job" day, try this: On your way home from work, stop at your pharmacy and go to the thermometer section and purchase a rectal thermometer made by Johnson & Johnson. Be very sure you get this brand. When you get home, lock your doors, draw the curtains and disconnect the phone so you will not be disturbed. Change into very comfortable clothing and sit in your favorite chair. Open the package and remove the thermometer. Now, carefully place it on a table or a surface so that it will not become chipped or broken. Now the fun part begins. Take out the literature and read it carefully. You will notice that in small print there is a statement, "Every Rectal Thermometer made by Johnson & Johnson is personally tested". Now, close your eyes and repeat out loud five times, "I am so glad I do not work in the Thermometer quality control at Johnson & Johnson." HAVE A NICE DAY AND REMEMBER, THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE ELSE WITH A JOB THAT IS MORE OF A PAIN IN THE ASS THAN YOURS. February 12 snowy walk on the lineGood Sunday morning everyone how is it going? It is currently cold and snowing here in the Fax and I am just blogging while Katie gets ready to head out. We are going to get some fish for the tank and then come back and relax and hide inside.
So the happy happs you ask? Well yesterday we relaxed for most of the afternoon and then last night we went out for dinner and a movie. We took the bus out to Bayers Lake for something different and Katiel got to see my bus route to work, I know she was thrilled.
We went to Jack Astors for some fun and crayon drawing. It was a good and filling meal and we were told many times where the bathrooms were, god knows why that is what they feel they need to push. Our waitress was Carine but that just made me think of David Caridine for no reason.
After dinner we walked over to the movie theatre to see Walk the Line. We have been wanting to see this for some time and figured it would be dead since it has been out for so long. The place was packed!
Anyways it was a great movie with two great performances. As friends of told me and I agree, you forget you are watching actors and you think you are watching Johnny and June. I hope it does well with Oscars as it is one of the better movies I have seen in a long time. The music has been playing in the house since we got back. Katie agreed with how good it was and I think she is going to read the auto biography now.
I'm Johnny Cash
We had a lazy day so far and had a french toast and bacon breakfast.
ok I think I hear the bathroom free, time to go.
here are some pics of our weather
have a great day.
February 11 Friday night funGood morning everyone how is your Saturday going? It is a cold and snowy day here. Well it is not snowing now but we had some yesterday. The temp is much colder than a normal Hali day that is for sure.
So last night was your typical chill out Friday night. I made some home made burgs for dinner that turned out good once again. I threw some chopped up spinach in the mix too and that was a nice touch. We had some fries with it and we were both pretty full after. I used the Brewtender for other things this time too. I made a Gin and Tonic Tender instead. It was good thats for sure, a little tipsy later but hey you gotta live it up on a Friday night right!
We watched Elizabethtown and it was not really what I thought it was, in fact both of us did not really get it. Oh well it had good music.
The Raps were not on TV here but they won, they beat the weak Bobcats and now they play Portland on Sunday (on TV!)
Today Katie just left for a hair appointment and I am going to meet later a the grocery store to stock up for the week. Tonight I think we are going to go out for a dinner and a movie somewhere.
Other than that we also have to start some cleaning and getting ready for our first hosting event next weekend haha. You know who you are and your stay will be great!
ok have to get ready and walk the Bosco..........
have a great Saturday. and the first medal goes to........The Germans!!
Michael Greis of Germany won the first gold medal of the 2006 Winter Olympics in the Men's 20 km individual biathlon event on Saturday. February 10 let the games beginWe are having a bit of a snow storm here in Halifax at the moment and it reminded me that the Winter Games started today. I think the opening ceremonies are on right now. Anyways go Canada go.
here is a shot of the official mascots of the games.
